Have you ever thought of cycling along the famous whale route and enjoying the 6th of the BIG 5 found in Africa. These magnificent creatures are here during the months of June to October. Hermanus has been declared by the WWF as one of 12 best places in the world to watch whales.
Your Itinerary and abbreviations:
KM = distance cycled by bike, AM = altitude climbed by bike, B/P/D = meals included (Breakfast/ Picnic/ Dinner)
Your driver/ guide will collect you from your accommodation and drive via Sir Lowry's Pass or previously known by the indigenous Khoi as Gantouw or Eland's Pass as it crosses the Hottentots-Holland mountain range. From here we have a panoramic view over the entire False Bay before heading east through one of the largest apple growing areas of the Cape. We continue through the Overberg region and then head south towards the Southern Right Whale country.
Depending on your excitement, we relax at a local coffee shop before venturing to the cliff edge in lure of spotting and spending time with these giants. After lunch (Optional) we do a short transfer (40 minutes) to the coastal Town of Kleinmond where we do a picnik lunch before we start our cycle along the whale route. For the next 50 kilometers we follow the coastline, ever alert for the “BLOW” to then finish at Bikini Beach, Gordons Bay. (Don't forget those costumes)
We then load the bikes and drive back to Cape Town with fond memories.
